Mark Stevens Obituary, Death – Mark Edward Stevens, a much-loved son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on March 4, 2024, and citizens of Wilmington, Delaware said their goodbyes. Mark’s life was a tribute to love, kindness, and treasured memories that will long remain in the hearts of those who knew him. Mark was born and raised in Wilmington, and his life was a testament to all of these things. A Beloved Son and Brother
Mark Powell was the stepson of the late Irvine Powell and was born to the late Mary Grove (Stevens) Powell and the late John Edward Stevens. Both of his parents have since passed away. After completing his high school education at John Dickinson High School, he went on to pursue his college education at the University of Delaware. He was born and raised in Wilmington. The unwavering commitment that Mark showed to his academic pursuits created the groundwork for a prosperous career that spanned forty years at UPS, where he made contributions that will last a lifetime and formed connections that will last a lifetime.
Cherished Memories
Beyond the constraints of his professional activities, Mark’s enthusiasm for life was boundless and enthusiastic. He found comfort and happiness in the straightforward pleasures that life had to offer, particularly when he was in close proximity to the beach, for which Rehoboth Beach held a very special place in his heart. He cherished the time spent with his family on vacations to Oxford, Maryland, Cape May, and Maine, where he was able to take pleasure in the splendor of nature and the comfort of the companionship of his loved ones. It was common knowledge that Mark had a deep appreciation for Italian cuisine and seafood, and he took great delight in preparing and serving delectable dinners to his loved ones and friends.
A Passion for Gardening
The act of tending to his garden provided Mark with both serenity and a sense of accomplishment during his free time. Whether it was farming fresh vegetables or tending to colorful blooms, he discovered that the process of creating and tending to life brought him a greater sense of delight. As a demonstration of his caring nature and respect for the splendor of nature, his green thumb and passion for gardening were a monument to his love of gardening.
A Loving Uncle and Friend
Spending meaningful time with his extended family, which included his sisters, nieces, and nephews, was the thing that brought Mark the most happiness all throughout his life. He found great joy in recounting the history of his family and the stories that he had heard, so preserving cherished memories for future generations to appreciate. Because of his kindness, compassion, and contagious laughter, he won the hearts of everyone who knew him, and his presence offered solace and happiness to those who were in his immediate vicinity.
Honoring Mark’s Memory
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be sent in Mark’s name to either the Faithful Friends Animal Society or the Brandywine Valley Southern Poverty Control Association. These organizations held a special place in Mark’s heart because they exemplified his compassion for animals and his desire to have a positive influence on the community. In order to provide his family and close friends with the opportunity to grieve and celebrate his life in a setting that is more personal, the funeral services for Mark will be held separately. Although he is no longer physically present, his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of everyone who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.
